Blek le Rat, born Xavier Prou in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris in 1952, was one of the first graffiti artists in Paris, and has been described as the “Father of Stencil Graffiti”. Wikipedia

1981 to 1983 the beginning of the stencil graffiti art .I had the idea to use stencils to make graffiti for one reason. I did not want to imitate the American graffiti that I had seen in NYC in 1971 during a journey I had done over there.I wanted to have my own style in the street… I began to spray some small rats in the streets of Paris because rats are the only wild living animals in cities and only rats will survive when the human race will have disappeared and died out.

“Where were the Right when he was gassing Kurds?”If one studies back issues of Quadrant from that period (1988-89), one finds that the Right were much exercised by the threats to peace and democracy posed by Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela and Xanana Gusmao, and worried that Ronald Reagan was going soft on the Russians.

VERY good article. I, too am familiar with Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet and have a couple of her books. If I understand her correctly, progesterone isn’t necessarily the greatest thing and can have some side effects as well. In addition to anxiety/insomnia, I have had years of debilitating bloating two weeks before my period. My last psychiatrist commented that one can be “sensitive” to their own progesterone. Hmmm…but there are no doctors around here that seem to have a clue what to do with my hormones! If only I could afford to see Vliet herself!!!
